Both swords (the Colada on this page, and the Tizona on this page) belonged to
the Castilian knight Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, known as "El Cid Campeador"
in the XI century.
He was the prototype of the knight and loyal vassal who took part with his King
Alfonso VI in the conquest of Toledo.
Subsequently he conquered the city and kingdom of Valencia to the moors.
Engraved on the blade is, "Yo Soy La Colada Fue Fecha En Era de Hice Trinia" (I am the Colada dated in the era of the trinity)
